Coaching Methodology and Cognitive Development

Decision Making 1vs1 Training

The individual and the development of the player as a person and as an athlete are all about analyzing how competition influences this individual and working on the aspects the player needs to be able to thrive in it. It is important to understand that the individual is made up of different structures. These structures represent different levels of human complexity, and they manifest themselves jointly during the game, given the high level of uncertainty.

Player responsibility for cognitive development.
* It's important to first understand soccer as a game of problem-solving in space and time, with or without the ball.
* Interpret different situations in attack and defense.
* What if the game asks me to do this and I don't train it?
* The player has to know the game, they have to learn the game.
* The first years, you play the game, and then you learn the game.
* Training better, rather than a lot, incorporates cognitive aspects, which allow you to not repeat exactly what happened in training, but in the game. This saves time on a greater number of decisions. More game-reality training.
* Continuous repetition in training allows us to transfer information so that players automatically have the correct information to make the best decision. Repetition without repetition.
* Brain imaging: the same area that visualizes a zone is the same area that executes it. Therefore, the importance of the player being able to fully understand a situation will undoubtedly allow them to solve it because it is the same area of the brain that reads both processes.
* Players must have this ability - significant learning. If the player doesn't understand why they are doing a situation, they will never be able to repeat it. Many times the coach teaches, but the player doesn't learn, and that's the coach's responsibility.
*The coach needs to see how the player learns, because it's awakening the player's interest in why that situation is important.
